Hola! Are you hoping to recreate that dish you had on holiday in Spain? Or perhaps you’re looking to spice up your mid-week meals? Our Spanish food box brings you rich flavours of the Mediterranean right to your kitchen! With powerful and aromatic spices, perfectly measured into small pots, you can create a mouth-watering three course meal for four people that captures the authentic flavours of Spain.

In this Spanish cuisine box, you’ll find all the spices you’ll need to cook up flavoursome Chicken and Prawn Paella, tasty Pinchitos Morunos and a lovely side of tangy Tomato, Chorizo and Parsley Salad.

The main dish in this box is paella, a rice dish which originates from a region called Valencia on the east coast of Spain. It’s one of the most well-known dishes when it comes to Spanish cuisine, and is widely seen as Spain’s national dish, paella is found in every region of the country, with each chef making their own version of the dish.

In this box, you’ll find a recipe for a paella mixta, or mixed paella which combines juicy prawns, spicy chorizo, tender chicken and fresh vegetables with delicate saffron and bold spices.

Originally cooked by farmers and farm labourers, whatever ingredients were available would be tossed in - tomatoes, onions, snails and few beans. This would be then cooked in a large pan called ‘la paella’ over an open fire. If you go to Spain, you’ll see people eating it in the traditional way - straight from the pan. If you’d like to learn more about the history of this delicious dish, check out this article.

We’ve also included a lovely side dish of Pinchitos Morunos which is Moorish-derived skewered chicken or pork. The Moors were North African Muslims who conquered the Iberian Peninsula between the 8th century and 15th century. They had a large influence on Spanish food and today, Pinchitos Morunos are a favourite addition to tapas menus all around Spain. These small cubes of meat are marinated in a robust Moorish spice mix before being grilled until juicy - the perfect side dish!

For a little side salad, our refreshing Tomato, Chorizo and Parsley Salad. Although simple, the flavours really come out with a dash of lemon juice and sherry vinegar.

We want to make cooking as easy and fuss-free as possible, so we’ve provided each Spanish cuisine box with a shopping list, cooking method and postcard. We’ve also snuck in a specially curated music playlist. We believe that food should be an experience involving all the five senses, so enjoy some lively Spanish music with your Spanish food!

Here at The Spice Pioneer, we believe that great food is made with the best ingredients. We only use premium ingredients to make our spice mixes, which we roast and blend by hand at our headquarters on the Wirral.

We may be biased, but we think these boxes make an excellent gift for any foodie out there. Check out our Gift Vouchers for the perfect present!
