What’s in the box?
In the box you will find a menu plan for a dinner party and the recipes that you should follow. Also in the box will be a selection of seasonings and/or ingredients that will authentically flavour your dishes. There will be a postcard from The Spice Pioneer all about the place that inspired the menu (the location is a surprise!). You will also receive a prompt to find The Spice Pioneer’s playlist so that you can enjoy his music during your special evening!
What is the box designed to do?
Each spice box will allow you to create a meal concept for 4 persons. It will include cooking a starter, main dish and side or a dessert.
How do I activate my first box code?
Once you have received your first box from The Spice Pioneer we will ask you to visit the redeem code page on our website to confirm receipt and enter the unique code there.
If I buy a gift where is the voucher sent to?
On buying a gift voucher with a duration of 3, 6 or 12 months, you (the buyer) will be sent an email with the voucher code and a gift voucher as a PDF attachment.
The voucher can then be forwarded to the recipient from your email or a physical copy can be printed.
The Spice Pioneer will not email (or post) this to the recipient as this email may be treated as spam by the recipient. Please check your spam folder.
Is the box and contents recyclable?
The outer box is fully recyclable, compostable and biodegradable conforming to EN-13432. The postcard and recipe cards can be recycled and are produced from environmentally friendly FSC paper. The plastic pots are produced from a mix of recycled and virgin food grade plastic and are suitable for recycling.
Do I need to be in to receive my box?
No. Our boxes are designed to fit through most standard letterboxes and don’t require a signature.
When will my first box arrive?
The boxes are sent once around the 15th of the month, so you will receive the very next box that is due to be sent on that date.
How long do I have to sign up for?
That is entirely up to you. If you choose to join as a member, we offer a rolling 3 months subscription, billed quarterly. We also offer gift vouchers for 3 months, 6 and 12 months.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, but we will be sorry to see you go. You will find the cancel button in the members area.
Do the boxes contain allergens?
Although most of the ingredients, herbs and spices do not contain allergens directly, there may on occasion be a spice mix that does. Products are carefully packed in a factory that handles the following allergens, so may contain: nuts (including peanuts), sesame, mustard, celery, soya, gluten, crustaceans and milk
Are boxes suitable for vegetarians or vegans?
Although the enclosed spices and ingredients are vegetarian, the majority of recipes may contain meat or fish products. However it is possible to substitute these items to enjoy our fantastic meal experiences.
Are the boxes gluten free?
Although the enclosed spices and ingredients are mostly gluten free, some recipes specify products containing gluten. However it is sometimes possible to substitute these items allowing you to enjoy our fantastic meal experiences.
Can I buy larger packs of ingredients?
If you have really enjoyed one of our boxes or a particular recipe, you can purchase larger packs of the herbs and spices at seasonedpioneers.com
Can I choose what goes in my box?
The Spice Pioneer chooses the origin of the cuisine that he sends each month depending on his whereabouts at that time. This means that each box you receive will be a complete surprise and over the months you will travel around the culinary world! As a member you do have the option to purchase previous months boxes.
Can I reorder previous boxes?
Subscribers can access the shop in the members area where you can browse our previous boxes.
How do I listen to the Spice Pioneer playlist?
As a subscriber you can login to the members area where you will find the music tab.
How do I order it as a gift?
You select the gift option and choose the subscription length. We will then email you a voucher with a unique code that you can present to the recipient. You can also include a personal message to them on the voucher if you wish. The recipient of your gift will then need to log into The Spice Pioneer website and enter the code and their delivery address details. We will send the boxes directly to your recipient each month.
How do I pay for my subscription?
When you sign up you will be invited to enter your payment details. Payments are managed by secure payment provider Stripe who accept all major debit and credit cards.
How many does one box serve?
The recipes and the seasonings within the box will cater for four people. Sometimes the serving portions are quite large and may serve six.

The telephone is attended Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm. Outside those times just leave us a message and we promise to call you back as soon as we can.
Will my dog or pet eat the contents of the box?
The boxes contain herbs and spices in the main but some will contain other items that could be attractive to pets (and young children!). As we post this through your letter box we advise that if ordered you ensure your pets (and children) do not have access to your postal items.
If I’m not ready to use the box, how long will it keep?
The contents of the box have a shelf life of up to six months so you can just pop it into a cupboard until you need it. None of the contents require refrigeration.
Where do you deliver?
We deliver throughout the UK and worldwide (subject to a delivery surcharge).
