Yellow Rice


  • 300g basmati rice
  • 50g butter
  • 1 tablespoon golden caster sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 6 cardamom pods
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 5 tablespoons raisins

How to make

Step 1

Bring the 600ml of water to the boil in a medium saucepan with a good pinch of salt.

Step 2

Add the butter and sugar and stir until they melt. Add the rest of the ingredients (raisins, cinnamon, cardamom pods and turmeric), stir well and bring back to the boil.

Step 3

Turn the heat down to low and cover with a tight fitting lid and cook until all the water has been absorbed (about 15 minutes). Remove from heat and keep warm until required.
