Sometimes, we all fancy a change from the regular meals we cook. Here at The Spice Pioneer, we love spicing things up and trying out recipes from around the world. As well as making midweek meals more exciting, we find that it’s a great way to travel and learn more about different countries from the comfort of your home. We’ve put together a whole collection of world recipes for you to try, ranging from sweet all the way to some seriously spicy recipes. Where will you fly to first?

How about the heady heat of Asia? Start your journey in the west, where you’ll come across the rich cuisine of Goa in India and Galle in Sri Lanka. You’ll find spicy recipes like green beans and black mustard seeds, panch phoran cauliflower and lamb goan xacuti.

Head further east to South East Asia and you’ll come across the exotic flavours of Thailand and Vietnam. The southern Thailand region of Phang Nga is home to delicious dishes like coconut lentil soup, butternut squash and chicken salad, and prawn penang with sticky rice. Our Thai Seasoning Blend will come in handy - a mouthwatering spice mix which includes galangal, Thai holy basil, lemongrass and birdseye chillies. Hop over to Saigon in Vietnam and try your hand at jungle curry, a colourful Vietnamese table salad and spicy tofu with lemongrass, basil and peanuts.

On the search for more world recipes? The Mediterranean has more to offer than just beautiful beaches. The Italian Monte Baldo mountain range is best for hearty food like saffron risotto and hunter’s chicken. In Spain, the mountain town of Gaucin is a hidden gem when it comes to food. Try some classic paella, with a side of pinchitos morunos (chicken or pork skewers) and a tomato, chorizo and parsley salad. After Spain, journey over to Lebanon. Some of our favourite Lebanese recipes are toasted bread salad with sumac, bulgur and chickpea salad with za'atar and mint, baked kibbeh with onions, pine nuts and tahini and rice pudding with cinnamon and aniseed. Next, head to the ancient city of Istanbul in Turkey, home to some of our favourite world recipes. Try one of the much loved Turkish recipes - aromatic meatballs spiced with our Baharat Spice Blend, a punchy mix of paprika, cumin, clove and cayenne. Pair them with festive rice, a cooling cucumber and yoghurt salad, and a tasty baklava to finish.

For some spicy recipes, head to Africa. The former imperial city of Marrakech in Morocco has some delicious dishes, including the famous tagine (our version is with chicken, apricots, ginger and ras-el-hanout). Pair it with side dishes like orange and date salad, and couscous with roasted fennel butter. Next, fly all the way to the southern tip of Africa to the town of Knysna for some traditional South African fare like bobotie, yellow rice and chakalaka.

Our last stop is the Americas, where you can sample the punchy flavours of Austin, Texas and New Orleans, Louisiana. It’s the perfect chance to taste traditional cooking like crunchy slaw, Cajun corn and shrimp Creole. On the way south, make a detour to Boston Beach in Jamaica for some jerk chicken and accras (Caribbean fritters). The last stop on our world
